Are you having a hard time getting your kids to mind? They’ll listen to you, but they’re having a difficult time with others in authority. How’s OUR attitude with authority? Hebrews 13:17 says we need to obey our leaders. It says “they are responsible for our spiritual welfare”—“obey them so that their work will give them joy, not grief” (ERV). Sometimes we get caught in a situation with our boss, church leaders, or others in authority over us when we disagree. Sometimes it’s easy to come home and talk about it, in front of our kids. What example are we setting for them? Help kids learn to obey Exodus 20:12—honor your father and mother today and others in authority later in life. Yielding to authority isn’t easy, but it’s a good example to our kids.
