This week we’re taking a peek at why young people are leaving the church.1 Three in five young people older than fifteen do that. Today, we’re looking at reason number three, outlined by Barna research. The most common of the reasons? They believe “Christians are too confident they know all the answers.” In fact, “three out of ten young adults with a Christian background feel that ‘churches are out of step with the scientific world we live in.’ Another one-quarter embrace the perception that ‘Christianity is anti-science.’ ” Well, our kids need guidance on how to engage the culture with a Christian worldview. They want to find a way to bring their faith in Jesus to the problems they face. How do we do that? Teach our kids to be apologists, defenders of their faith.
