Memorial Day. It’s more than just another day off of school. Do you know what it is? It used to be known as Decoration Day. It’s a day set aside to honor those men and women of the United States who, in Abraham Lincoln’s words, “gave the last full measure of devotion.” If you have servicemen and servicewomen in your home, you know about today. Because you know that at any moment they could be gone. If you don’t, you may not view it as such an important day. Why is this a Parent Minute topic? RESPECT. I’ve seen so many young people ignore the fact that there have been thousands of people who died for their earthly freedom. But, remember, Jesus died, giving us ultimate freedom.
