I know what you’re thinking: “That doesn’t apply to me.” Really? Were you not adopted by God? Were you not bought and paid for by the blood of Christ alone? Okay, I got you. But, the reality is that adoption and foster care, though a beautiful, joyful picture of what God has done for us, also comes with some hurt. Families, which are completed by adoption, can also struggle. Many adopted young people feel a sense of abandonment. Newly adopted kids struggle with grief and loss, or feelings they can’t describe. As an adoptive father, my job is to listen, ask questions, comfort, and reassure my daughter how much we love her. But, more importantly, how God shows His love for her through her adoption story.
