School. For some of us, it can be the most difficult time in our kids’ lives. Some love going. Others, well, not so much. Maybe they’re young enough where they’re saying things like, “Why do I have to go to school anyway?”—which from our perspective seems a bit silly. Rather than getting into it with our kids in THAT moment—wait. Wait until you see them doing something that REQUIRED them to learn about it in school. Maybe when they try to figure out if they have enough money to buy a candy bar or read words on a computer game. Then say, “I’m so glad you learned that in school, aren’t you?” Then point them to Proverbs 18:15: “An intelligent heart acquires knowledge” (ESV).
