We continue with a look at the fruit of the Spirit as it relates to parenting. Frankly, gentleness in parenting isn’t always easy, especially if you’re like me, and you’re a little intense. The dictionary defines it as being “mild in temperament or behavior; kind or tender”; “moderate in action, effect, or degree; not harsh or severe.”1 Does that describe our parenting? If it doesn’t, we should probably start working on it, right? Titus 3:2 says be gentle. Proverbs 15:1 tells us to use a soft answer, which turns away wrath. There are moments I get frustrated as a parent. As in any situation where I’m facing the temptation to sin, though, I have to remember the Holy Spirit is there to help me choose correctly. Be obsessed with God.
