Adult children. Whether they’re still living with you, at college, married—whatever the situation—we all care about our kids. Despite the experience we have, our kids really don’t want any help. Remember being there? I sure do. Parent Minute listener “David” gives us some solid advice: “Parents need to let adult kids make their own decisions, even if it may be painful or destructive.” As parents of young kids, we have a responsibility to be involved in their lives. They need us. But with adult kids, we’ve got to keep our nose out of their business. Why? Because they’ll never grow up. Mistakes tend to be the proving ground for life. Are your kids making poor choices? My advice: be there when they need you. Otherwise, keep it to yourself.
