In 1 Thessalonians 5:14, the Apostle Paul says: “We urge you, our friends, to warn the idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone” (GNT). Good advice for us as parents, right? Do we have an idle or lazy child? There are lots of warnings in Scripture about it. We need to train our kids to work for their wants. Maybe we have kids who are timid and hesitate getting into certain circumstances. Paul tells us to encourage them, not to make them feel worse. Do we have kids who are weak or impaired? Surround them with loving care. Finally, the admonition to be patient with everyone. Control our anger. Don’t let it control us. It’s great counsel!
