Do you resonate with that? I sure do. I love peace and don’t like conflict. I love it when everybody just gets along and nobody tries to push the limits. Unfortunately, that’s not reality. I would have to say it may be one of my idols. Because I try to be consistent in “my rules,” I also get pretty rigid about them, and it’s created relationship issues with my kids. The truth is our kids aren’t OUR kids, they’re God’s. He’s just entrusted them with us. If our kids want to rebel, they will—with or without our rigid rules. Let love rule. That doesn’t mean abandon all rules. It means don’t let rules rule you AND your relationships because you’ll regret it when your kids are gone.
