We’re looking at the fruit of the Spirit this week as it relates to parenting. So far we’ve addressed love, joy, peace, patience, and kindness. You can see what I’ve said about them in our archives at ParentMinute.org. Today, we’re talking about goodness. What’s the difference between kindness and goodness? You know what kindness is, but goodness is just that—being good. Bible.org describes it as obeying God’s moral law.1 Let’s face it, our kids need to not only know what is good, but they need to see it lived out in their lives daily. Teach it daily. If you see it being violated on TV or in a movie, talk about it. Then tell your kids what the Bible says about it. You may tend to ruin TV shows, but you’ll plant seeds that will live forever.
