That’s a loaded headline, isn’t it? Has your family been labeled “a bigot” because of your beliefs? While Jesus never outright condemned homosexuality, He did endorse the law of the Old Testament, which DID condemn it. I received an email from someone saying that he wouldn’t donate to Keys for Kids if we didn’t support LGBT children. While we don’t support that BEHAVIOR, we do support loving them—just like we support loving kids who have a tendency to lie, steal, cheat, lust, or any other sinful behavior outlined in Scripture. THAT should be our focus as Christian families—LOVING people no matter what the sin. Jesus did. He hung out with tax collectors, prostitutes, the selfish. As Christians, our example to our kids and our neighbors should be love.

Greg, As a grandparent who subscribes to Parent Minute I would like to thank you
so very much for the Biblical stand you take & always pointing us to focus on Jesus
our Savior. That is why I donated in late December of 2020. When I have the grandkids ,
Keys for Kids is first on the list before we do anything else. Thank you for your faithfulness.
I used Keys for Kids with my children. Thank you so much for being so real & down to earth
& relatable. May God continue to bless Keys for Kids.
Thank you, Gayle, for trusting us with the kids in your life and for posting here.
Greg,
How would you react when LGBT said that they are being discrimated and feel hurt if you call their behavior sinful, claiming that they were born this way and just make their natural choice.
As Christians we know that this is a lie from the evil one. John Macarther says homosexuality is an assault on God because the individual is basically trying to take over God’s roll in creation. He made each one of us male or female. God did not create us sinful. However, since the fall we ALL are born sinful. Some of us have a propensity to lie, steal, lust, lose temper, and I could go on and on. As followers of Christ, that doesn’t give us license to continue ON living in that sin. As followers of Christ we shouldn’t desire to live in sin. It’s to be holy as God is holy. LBGTQ is a lie and direct assault on God and His creation. But so is the culture that says it’s okay to have multiple sexual partners, those addicted to porn, drugs, alcohol, and the list goes on and on. It’s still sin. We’re all guilty of sin. “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love for which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses and sin made us alive together with Christ.” What do we say to them? First, we love them with a live that can only be from God. We conform them by telling them we’re ALL sinners and struggling in different ways. Some people justify their actions (sin) by saying God made them that way. The reality is that’s not true.
If it’s wrong to be in the lgbtq+ community, then why did god create the lgbtq+ community?
Great question. The question I have for you is, “Did God create sin? Or was man and woman allowed to sin?” The Bible has to be the authority here. If we don’t believe God’s Word is ultimate authority of right and wrong it’s hard to have a conversation. The Bible IS God’s inspired Word. These truths are the moral absolutes. Here’s what the Bible says about sin and God.
1 John 3:8 ESV
Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.
Romans 5:12 ESV
Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—
I John 1:5
This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
So, the question is why has God allowed sin into the World. The short answer is, “I don’t know.” What I DO know is that sin separates us from God. We can have a relationship with Him with sin in our lives. The only way we CAN have a relationship with Him is found in Romans 10:9-10, “because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”
Getting to the LGBTQ issue you raised. The Bible declares identifies sexual sin:
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 ESV
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
So, why does God allow sin? The only answer I have is, to help us understand our need of Him to redeem us and make us a new creation.
I’m not sure where you are in your journey of faith. If you’re not a follower of Christ, the only thing I can suggest is go here https://unlocked.org/knowjesus/ to understand how to have a relationship with God. If that doesn’t help, go here https://www.desiringgod.org/messages/how-to-become-a-child-of-god.
One I want to tell you is that no matter what you believe we want you to know we care about you. Apart from Christ, we are ALL sinners (all kinds of different sins) and we ALL need a Savior. One of my dear friends used to say, “We’re all beggars who need bread. Some know where to find it and eat it. Others are looking for it and find it as other beggars give them directions. Others would rather ignore the directions and eat rocks, thinking it’s bread, and die without finding it.”
