Research has shown that strong families demonstrate nine qualities. One is that everybody in the family has a clear idea about their day-to-day roles and obligations in that family. In short, whether I am a parent or a child, I know—more or less—what’s expected of me on a daily basis. Let me put it this way: we as parents need to set the tone for our homes with courageous and upbeat leadership. Having said that, we also need to respect our kids as creations of a wonderful God and belonging to Him, not us. We need God’s wisdom and power to be leaders who teach our kids their roles—but also allow them to laugh and breathe and be all He made them to be.
