I’m a grandpa. I consider myself a younger grandfather. And while I love my technology, I’m not sure I’m THIS addicted. I got a text from Luke last week suggesting that I talk about grandparents who are addicted to their smart phones or mobile devices. He says social media is taking the place of real relationships. Take time to have a real, in-person relationship with your grandkids. Don’t just wish them a happy birthday on Facebook. When you’re with your grandkids, he suggests that grandparents need to put their phones away. It’s no different than being on a date with our spouse. Proverbs 17:6 says, “Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their fathers” (ESV). Let’s treat them that way.
