As an adoptive family, we hear things like: “That was a great thing you did.” Or, “Your daughter must be really grateful.” Adoption is a call from God, and many of us had no idea what we’re getting ourselves into. While we all love it, sometimes it’s hard. When our kids are acting out and dealing with attachment or trauma issues, a few adults wonder why we let our kids act that way. Do you know any adoptive parents? Well, don’t judge. The best thing you can do is love and take great interest in our kids. Ask us how we're doing (because, frankly, we struggle), and pray for us. When our kids act out to see if we'll really love them when they're bad—pushing our every button—we really need it.
