I can’t begin to tell you the number of people around me who are either going through cancer, beat it, or lost the battle. My daughter actually had one of her friends die from the horrible disease. As parents, how do we talk about it with our kids? My suggestion: point them to Scripture. The Bible says at death believers are taken into the presence of Christ in heaven. He’s there now. Jesus said to the thief on the cross, “Today you will be with Me in paradise.” That is great news and encouragement for kids. Apart from Christ, that’s a difficult discussion. In those situations, I encourage people to have hope that perhaps they came to faith in Christ in a dream or a vision—something! Can God do that? Christ reveals himself in that way in the Muslim world, why not here?
