I read a story1 the other day on LittleThings.com that made me laugh. Alice Velasquez was sick of telling her teen daughters to clean their rooms. So fed up that she decided to put everything (yes, everything!) into garbage bags. She did—just as EVERYTHING was found on the floor. Then, she held the bags hostage for 25 “chore dollars” (“dollars” that could only be earned by household chores). Are you tired of telling your kids to clean their rooms? It may be time to take drastic action. Whether you follow Alice’s example, or you come up with your own lesson, the reality is you’re teaching respect, discipline, and responsibility.
