All their friends are getting baptized or giving professions of faith. But is our son or daughter ready for that step of faith? How do we decide? Frankly, Mom and Dad, it really isn’t up to us, is it? The Holy Spirit is the one who’s leading and directing our kids. The Bible doesn’t really say much about when a young person is ready. In fact, much of Scripture, especially in the book of Acts, says words like “they believed and were baptized.” It doesn’t say, “They believed, proved their salvation, and their parents gave their approval.” Now, I know what you’re saying, we need to make sure that they’re not just doing it because their friends are making these decisions. The good news is they want to be baptized or make professions of faith. Now it’s helping them understand what it means and pointing them in the right direction.
