How many times have you heard or read children’s Christian material tell kids to pray that God would help them not to do or say bad things? Frankly, it drives me crazy. As a Christian, God has already given us the power over sin, right? I like what GotQuestions.org says about it.1 The Holy Spirit has already given Christians victory over sin. Galatians 5:16-25 tells us we’re called to walk in the Spirit and yield to His control, but, unfortunately, we don’t always follow His prompting. As parents, we need to remind our kids that we’re all sinners, even as followers of Christ. But intentional discipleship can help make those decisions easier.
