I was that little boy. How can we help our kids control their anger? First, teach them the wisdom of Proverbs 14:29, “Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.” Help them understand that patience and self-control are signs of strength and wisdom. Encourage open communication and provide opportunities to express their feelings without resorting to anger. Teach practical techniques too, like deep breathing or counting to ten to calm themselves in the heat of the moment. Additionally, model self-control in our own life. Let them see you handle challenging situations with grace and patience. Most importantly, remind them that we’re all sinners and need Jesus as our Savior. Until I came to Christ and began following Him, my anger was hard to control.
