Driver’s training. Do you have a student driver? This is my fourth one. Each time I’ve gone through it, I’ve wondered, “Can it get any worse? Can it get any more scary? Could I get any more impatient?” The answer—yes! As a parent, we need to listen to what their instructors are telling us: “Don’t over-coach your kids while they’re driving.” Why? Well, it’s going to make them more nervous, and they’re going to make even more mistakes. Right now I’m preaching to myself because I’m finding that I’m talking way too much: “Slow down. Go faster. Watch out for the curb. Don’t try to beat that car!” Is patience a problem for you? Remember Romans 12:12: “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer” (ESV).
