Did you know when economic times are strong, giving to Christian non-profits seems to go down? I’ve worked for non-profit ministries my entire career. I started off at a non-commercial Christian radio station. Now, I’m at Keys for Kids Ministries. My theory is that in good times people use extra money for cars, boats, and vacations – sacrificing giving to groups like Keys for Kids. Why? I think we, parents and grandparents, weren’t taught HOW to give. Many Christians believe biblical giving is giving 10-percent to God — our tithe. Is that ALL we should give? Paul says whoever gives sparingly with reap sparingly. And vice versa. Our message to our kids should be to give sacrificially because it’s FUN to watch God use it for His good.
