Intercultural travel is a great experience for anybody, including our kids. I recommend taking the kids in your life on a trip where they can experience a different culture—where they can see how others live outside the United States. It changes people. But there’s a difference between a short-term mission trip and a vision trip. The wrong people on short-term mission trip can set the work back years. Vision trips, though, can open hearts to that calling. They’re going to SEE the work, not necessarily do it. You’re seeing the needs, praying over them, and, when returning, telling people about it. Remember, the best missionaries are local Christians. Our job is to help through prayer and, in some cases, training and financial support.
