I don’t know about you, but it tears my heart out when I see my son or daughter work their tail off preparing for something and then fail. I heard this story recently where this high schooler, who really struggled in math class, gave it her all. She studied every night. She took notes. Met with the teacher before and after school. Worked with a tutor. And despite all the extra work, she still failed. She was crushed. How are we supposed to respond to that? My suggestion? Just love them. Wrap your loving arms around them, hold them tight, and say, “I love you.” Isn’t it great to know we don’t have to get perfect grades or make a team for God to love us? Remember that at report card time.
