Isn’t it interesting that kids don’t have to learn how to sin? They don’t have to learn to be selfish, throw tantrums, talk back, or lie. The question is, what do we do when our four-year-old lies? Sometimes we can look past it as being cute or “they have such a vivid imagination.” Not addressing those lies when they happen can create a habitual liar. As a Christian, it’s easy to say things like, “God hates lying.” But that doesn’t really help point them to Jesus, does it? When kids lie, sometimes they are trying to get out of trouble. Maybe we should say, “Why did you lie? You know that hurts people.” Then, we can use those touching moments to remind them of Jesus’ love for them and why His death on the cross was so important.
