For the first time in 29 years, our family isn’t doing back-to-school shopping. Our kids are now done, and it feels pretty good, actually. I remember the stress, though. A couple of our kids required A LOT of oversight. That gets exhausting, doesn’t it? When your kids KNOW they have responsibilities yet drop the ball, we have no other choice but to follow up. It’s stressful. You WANT them to make good choices, but more often than not, it doesn’t happen. Tip of the day: it’s okay to let them fail—especially when they’re older. They need to know that their decisions have consequences. That doesn’t mean grace doesn’t go with it eventually, but a reality check can be just what the doctor ordered to help them turn it around.
