I volunteer in our church. I’m a small group leader with 5th and 6th grade boys. I’m amazed at how many boys—who grew up in the church with solid Christian families—who hardly even know how to look up a verse of Scripture. There are a few who know the books of the Bible and most of the popular Bible stories. Why is biblical illiteracy so prevalent in our churches today? I think it’s because we’re relying on the church to teach our kids, rather than doing it ourselves. Want some help? Get the Keys for Kids devotional. You can order a book, download our app, or read or listen online—everyday stories that point our kids to God’s Word, which is the only way to help them hide it in their hearts.
