While I’m a pretty positive guy, I do tend to be a “glass-half-empty” person. The reason? I like to prepare myself for bad news. “Good” is great, but I hate bad news. Bad news makes me so uncomfortable—I can’t even begin to tell you. That brings other problems, though. Because my glass is half empty, I tend to point out the problems in a situation, rather than the positives. Think of how devastating that can be in a family dynamic. I’ve had to force myself to be more positive. The Bible encourages positivity. Psalm 45:7, “God…has anointed you with the oil of gladness” (ESV). And Romans 5:1: “since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God” (ESV). Being positive is contagious. Spread it in your home.
