Yesterday, I asked you the question, “Do you speak the truth in love, or do you bite people?” 1 Corinthians 13 emphasizes love. As parents, it’s really easy to fall into the overprotective mode of parenting. Paul says “love is patient, love is kind; it doesn’t dishonor, not self seeking” “it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs” (from 1 Corinthians 13:4-5 NIV). If you have a child who pushes you to the edge almost every day, you know how easy it is to fall into frustration, disappointment, and, sometimes, loud interaction. What should you do? Keep 1 Corinthians 13 at the forefront of your mind. When your son or daughter pushes you to the limit, remember discipline—but don’t forget about love.
