At my previous job at another ministry, I talked extensively about missions. One thing I noticed—whenever I said the word missions, many Christians would tune out and stop listening. I’m not really sure why. I’m guessing a lot of it’s because we as parents haven’t done our job to paint these men and women of the faith as heroes. They ARE. Mom and Dad, are you doing all you can to encourage your kids to learn about those who are serving Christ abroad? Where do you start? Get a book about some of the pillars of faith. William Carey, David Livingstone, Hudson Taylor, Jim Elliot—just to name a few. These stories are full of excitement and amazing “God-at-work” stories that will inspire your kids. Read one this week.
