My heart goes out to you. I know a number of people who are going through this right now. They’re VERY close to me. It’s the most heart-wrenching thing a parent can go through. On the one hand, you want to tell them what to do to fix it. But they don’t have to obey anymore. On the other hand, you hope they hit bottom, so they’ll see they need help. That’s called detachment. Sometimes it’s the most loving thing you can do. Yes, it’s emotional. But as a follower of Christ, God can use detachment to speak volumes to our adult kids. We HAVE to trust God and speak TRUTH when there are openings. And, PRAY. That’s essential.
