I’m 50. All but one of my kids are adults now. As I look back at my life as a parent, the thing that sticks out in my mind are all the times that I said, “Enjoy your childhood while you can. You have your whole life to be an adult.” But, what did I really do to encourage my kids to be kids? Are you the kind of parent who likes to get dirty with your kids? In other words, do you encourage kids to be kids by example—having fun? If you’re the kind of parent who takes your son or daughter to the park to watch them play—suggestion: stop watching and get on that swing and SWING. What’s the spiritual message? “For everything there is a season”—even to play.
