There are times when we just don’t know how to help our kids. I’m there right now. What’s the issue? Grief. Our family lost a dear friend to cancer. That person was also my daughter’s spiritual mentor. They talked or texted almost every day. It’s a huge hole in her 17-year-old heart. We all lose loved ones. When we lose a parent, our kids can suffer equally. And, if they’re adopted, they feel a sense of abandonment. What am I doing? I’m pointing her to Christ at every turn. Scripture tells us He’s always with us. He’ll uphold us, and no one can separate us from the love of the Father. I’m reminding her that people will fail us, but God won’t ever do that.
