Your two-year-old daughter HATES going to bed. She cries. You go in and comfort her. She settles down. You leave. And you repeat this over and over and over again until you get frustrated and you let her get up and fall asleep on the couch. Mom and Dad, don’t do that. LET. HER. CRY. Once we set our heart on changing our daughter’s behavior, it only took a few nights of frustration. Now, sometimes, something IS wrong, so make sure you monitor this. But we put our daughter to bed and she’d not only CRY, but she’d get out of bed saying, “I have to go potty. I’m thirsty. I’m hungry. I don’t want to sleep. I don’t want to go to bed.” The first night that lasted about two hours. Second night, 45 minutes. Third night, no tears and fast asleep. Remember. Do everything out of love, not anger.
