My dad always told me that my temper would get me into trouble some day. He was right. How do we talk to our teens about losing their temper with friends? It can be difficult. Emotions can be strong. As parents we can turn to Proverbs 12:16 that tells us “a fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks insult.” Remind them impulsive behavior can make a situation worse, but showing patience and forgiveness can lend to a resolution. As parents, remember we’re not perfect. Chances are they may have learned the behavior from us. If losing our temper happens, remember to ask forgiveness and encourage them to hold you accountable. Ultimately turning to Scripture is the best answer.
