Is your son or daughter an athlete? When they’re young, EVERYBODY plays. But, when they get into the high school levels, a lot of kids just sit on the bench waiting for their chance to show the coach what they can do. It’s hard sitting in the stands watching your son or daughter sit and sit, isn’t it? How many of you have had your son or daughter come crying to you wishing they could just play—just to get a chance? Well, there’s a biblical lesson here. BE READY. Help your son or daughter understand that they need to be ready when the coach calls on them. In the meantime, be a cheerleader. Matthew 24 teaches us that nobody knows the hour or day when Jesus will return. So, “be ready”—while actively sharing our faith while we wait (Matthew 24:44).
