That’s one of the worst things we can say to our kids. Have we ever found ourselves comparing our kids with our other kids, or worse, someone else’s kids? Mark Hall with Casting Crowns has some suggestions because each of our kids are different. “My 18-year-old is my rule-follower. My 15-year-old, when she was about 12, I was like ‘Jesus, I need you to come back, NOW’ because they were just totally different. But once you start realizing that and stop comparing them and let them be who they are and meet them where they are—they’re not a good or bad kid based on how they do things compared to their older or younger brother. And that’s the last thing in the world they need to hear is, ‘You need to be more like your brother.’ That’s awful.” Isn’t it good to know God created all of us in His image?
