Besides music, some of the biggest battles I’ve had with my kids have been about clothing. As a kid, I didn’t really care that much. By the time I did, my tastes were pretty well in line with my folks. My older kids grew up when boys’ jeans were saggy and baggy—in fact, for the longest time, I didn’t even know my son had a waist. For my girls, short and tight were the thing. So, do we scream about mismatched clothing? Is THAT worth a battle? My daughter is the only one left in our home right now, and our goal is to make sure that we train her to discern for herself what to wear. Modesty is key. But make sure your standards are clear and why. Proverbs 11:22: “Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman without discretion” (ESV).
