Many of you know that I was an instant 22-year-old father of three. This past Father’s Day was an amazingly emotional one for me. The three, now in their 30s, sent me this plaque that said, in essence, “Some say you’re not our real Dad, but we know this isn’t true. Though we’re not tied by bloodlines, your unconditional love for us is what really counts.” Are you a stepparent? Even if you’re not, the best thing you can do is unconditionally love the kids in your life. Your efforts may be ignored. They may be unwelcome. But Jesus told us the greatest two things we can do is love God and love people. If you do that, you’re not only honoring God—it’s giving you a platform to share Christ.
