If you’re a parent, you’ve probably heard that a MILLION times, right? Kids are just selfish. Actually, we can be, too. Unfortunately, our Western culture has turned many kids (and adults, for that matter) into an entitlement society. My own daughter gets trapped in it sometimes. How can we help our kids get out of it? GIVE THEM A JOB. No, not child labor—chores. Make them EARN the money to buy things. And as they do, teach them biblical principles of giving to God, saving, and then purchasing the things they want. In 2 Thessalonians 3, Paul reminds us that if anybody isn’t willing to work, they shouldn’t eat. No, don’t make them work for their supper, but teach them to work for their Savior.
