I’ll never forget those words from my grandparents. I was pretty close to my paternal grandparents. They were amazingly supportive. I wasn’t the sharpest tack on the board, but my grandparents sure didn’t think so. This statement wasn’t only encouraging—it was motivation to me. They expected great things, and I wanted to make them proud. Grandparents, we may be the only encouragement our grandkids are getting anywhere. So, don’t be afraid to give it to them, no matter how difficult. Kids tend to live up to our expectations—why not set them high? Paul says, “encourage one another and build each other up,”* which will encourage our legacies to look to God for guidance. Read 1 Thessalonians 5.
