Teaching our kids to be givers is difficult, especially when we have a hard time ourselves. I know a lot of families where Mom and Dad struggle just to pay bills because student loan payments are out of sight, they’re sideways on their mortgage, or they’re just out of work. Suggestions? Start somewhere. Let your kids see you put SOMETHING in the offering plate at church. If you can’t do that, make it a habit to bake a cake or something and give it to a neighbor in need. Example is everything. Then, encourage your kids to do the same. Start somewhere. Do they get birthday money? Are your teens working? Remind them it’s all God’s, but all He wants is a tenth.
