Our grandkids ask a lot of questions, don’t they? Sometimes it can be exhausting. One thing I’ve noticed is that kids seem to be more blunt. They’re asking uncomfortable questions like the birds and the bees. Or my favorite: “Grandpa, did you do anything bad when you were a kid?” “Go ask your parents” is the best response for the first question. But how do you answer the second? Be honest, but not always specific. If you have a “questionable” past before you came to Christ, be ready with something minimally specific, but finish with, “But that was before Christ changed my life.” The rest of your response can be with questions—like, “Why do you think I stopped doing those things?”—opening doors for talks that could change their lives forever.
