How do you feel when you give specific instructions to your kids but they only get a few things right? For example, you tell Abby to go to her room and do her homework. Thirty minutes later she emerges. You ask, “Done?” Yep, she replies. The next day, you get an email from Abby’s teacher saying she failed turn in her math and science homework. When confronted with her lie, she says, “Well, I did get my spelling homework done.” Is that really obedience? Israel struggled with complete obedience, too. As a parent, help our kids understand that partial obedience is still disobedience. It has consequences. More importantly, it’s sin and is the reason we all need Jesus. Pray, then let the Holy Spirit work.
