How many times have we heard that before? When our kids say this, it’s usually a “big deal.” It typically happens when we’re watching a movie and the content gets a little bit edgy. My wife and I will either turn the channel or make comments about filling our minds with things above. And, yep, that’s when we get the, “Dad, it’s no big deal. I’ve heard worse at school.” She may have, but should we allow that kind of stuff to come into our home? Would we invite people into our homes who do the things that “aren’t a big deal”? Here’s my challenge to you, Mom and Dad: stay true to your convictions despite what the culture says. Don’t be legalistic about it, but let’s encourage our kids to think about the good things spelled out in Philippians 4:8.
