“I’m bored.” “You want me to do what? I’m on summer break.” You’ve heard the whining, right? Trouble is, the whining is from your 17- and 15-year-olds. They’re old enough to be left at home while you work, but you don’t want lazy kids. What do you do? Do what the Smith family does. They have a schedule for each day they’re home. They don’t have a specific time they have to get up, but their RESPONSIBILITIES require RESPONSIBILITY. They have to make their bed and pick up their room by noon. They’re assigned a household chore each day. Reading and quiet time are also part of the schedule. Accountability is key to success. Remember: “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty” (NIV).
