It may seem like old school, but is it really? Don’t we want them to come to faith in Christ and grow in Him? Memorizing the Ten Commandments with our kids can help. They’re not just a set of rules but The Law shows us our need of a Savior, Jesus Christ. The first four Commandments are about loving and worshiping God. The other six are about loving and honoring people. As we teach our kids each Commandment, point out how we fail at each one. Since we can’t keep the law perfectly we need Jesus. He lived a perfect life, died on the cross to pay for our sins, and rose again so we can have a relationship with him. So, teach our kids the Ten Commandments, not for the rules but for the understanding.
