As followers of Christ, our highest calling is leading our kids to Christ. Unfortunately, many parents, even churches today, are encouraging our kids to be morally “good” people. They’re placing emphasis on doing something. In other words—“Do these ‘good’ things and say this prayer”—and you’re saved. Unfortunately, the Bible is clear that it’s by grace that we’re saved through faith, and no one comes to the Father except through Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8; John 14:6). There’s nothing we can do to save them. The only thing we can “do” is lead them in Scripture to salvation and let the Holy Spirit do His work. Romans 10:9 says it best: “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (NIV).
