Those were the words from a 10-year-old stressing about his mom having surgery that was going to incapacitate her for a while. The family of five was not only dreading the stress of surgery for the person who was not only the glue in the family—but who did all the cooking, cleaning, and was the daily caregiver. How would you handle this? Well, depending on the age of your kids, give everybody a job. Maybe it’s cleaning the living room. Loading or unloading the dishwasher. Maybe they can cook a meal or do the laundry. Who’s going to take care of Mom’s needs? Assign that responsibility, too—blankets, help to the restroom, drinks, and other comfort needs. This teaches responsibility, honor, and respect. Honor your father AND mother. Great Scripture with a promise.
