Ever had a Thanksgiving you’d rather forget? The stress of having people over for the holiday. Wanting everything perfect, then somebody in your family does something that sets you off—and everybody else in your house. Now, everybody’s upset and in a terrible mood, and, when it’s time to go around the table to say what you’re thankful for, NOBODY wants to say anything. How do you avoid this? Selfishness. If you want everything perfect, maybe “okay” is good enough. If you’re married to a perfectionist, try to help. Relieve the stress and assign doable tasks for the kids to successfully accomplish. Most importantly, keep the day festive. And in ALL things give thanks to the One who has given us so much. Our kids will remember that for a lifetime.
