Is screen time good or bad? For many parents, it’s a struggle. On one hand, mobile devices can be educational, but on the other, too much can be harmful. Here’s what the Bible says: in Exodus 20:3, God commands, “You shall have no other gods before Me.” Sometimes, screens can become idols in our lives—and in our kids’ lives too. It’s easy to be a bad example. So, what can we do? For elementary kids, do they really need them? Encourage play outside, reading, or family time instead of phones. For teens, talk about what they’re watching or doing online, and emphasize balance, and check phones. Teach them to put God first, above any device. Remember, screens aren’t inherently bad, but they shouldn’t take over, either.
